About Us

Jyoti English Secondary Boarding School

Jyoti English Secondary Boarding School, as it is called now, was established as Jyoti English Boarding School at Pragatinagar, Syangja in Nepal in the year 2044 B.S. The school started with only 135 students and within a very short time, it became a full-fledged secondary level school in 2047 B.S. In the year 2049 B.S., the school was able to place one of its brightest students in the 6th position among the top ten in the national board examination of Nepal.

Jyoti English Secondary Boarding School (JESBS) at the district headquarters of Syangja in Nepal, is a renowned English medium school on its own strength. Founded in 1987 with only ...students and.....teachers in a rented facility, it has come a long way to boast of having over 1,000 students and 55 staff now; and has been one of the most sought after destinations for admissions into schools in the region. Mr Buddhi Sagar Tripathi, the founder of the school has remained the Principal till to date and his vision for creating an educated population in the central hills of Nepal is still the driving force behind all the momentum the school has gathered.

Admission is given on the basis of an Entrance Examination which is mandatory, comprehensive, and has to be cleared on the basis of marks secured in the exam. A personal interview closely conducted by the School Management is compulsory for all students accompanied by their parents.

As part of the application approval process, all children have to participate in an age-appropriate entry assessment for basic math, languages (English and Nepali) and social interaction. This is needed to ensure a smooth and fully supported transition to the school and is by no means a “pass/fail” test. Parent interviews will also take place to ensure that their outlook towards education is in alignment with the school’s values and learning goals.

No. The school believes that every child should have a right to apply to KWS, and does not seek any form of monetary reimbursement for the process.

The official admission process begins from 1st Chaitra every year but as the seats are limited, you will be able to reserve seats prior to the date once you are notified of your child’s selection.

Yes, our school offers varied scholarships to students on a need-cum-merit basis.

Scholarships are provided on the basis of merit as well as criteria set by NEB. Student candidates are required to appear in scholarship exams held by the school for which the school admission desk provides you with the dates and time of exam. Selection is transparent and fair and thus, it is mandatory to pass out the scholarship exams.

Facilities

The school has 42 classrooms which provide a strong academic grounding to the pupils. Classrooms are technology enabled with two way communication system and cameras. The display boards inside and outside the classrooms are used to appreciate and celebrate children’s original work and creativity.

To facilitate students to commute to and fro, the school has 3 coaches, all of which are 32-seaters. Transport charges are applicable according to the distance from the school.

Information Technology : There is a Computer Laboratory and all students from classes IV to X use the facility to gain computer literacy. Computer assisted teaching is effectively combined with time-tested teaching practices.

The hostel has a capacity for 100 boarders. The dorms for senior boys, girls and younger kids are on different floors.

Food – There are 5 meals served everyday viz breakfast, lunch, snacks at 1.30, refreshments at 5 and supper, the last meal of the day. Meat is provided once a week for non-veg consumers.

Health care: The boarders receive care as if they are at their own homes. For minor illnesses, immediate help is available at the school itself. For severe illnesses, medical treatment is availed at the local hospital. In both cases, parents are informed.

Clothes: Students must bring their casual dress and bed clothes from their own homes. No jeans are allowed in the hostel.
